World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) President Choue Chung-won will release an English book titled ``Peace in Mind, Sports at Heart,'' in a ceremony on April 7, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crystal Ball Room on the third floor of the Jamsil Lotte Hotel in Seoul.
In the work, Choue outlines his thoughts on how to further develop taekwondo and the WTF.
The 223-page book contains his ideas on the globalization of taekwondo, the creation of a new taekwondo image, and a vision of sports and peace, as well as his reflections on life.
The publication also highlights the reason why the WTF headman launched the Taekwondo Peace Corps last summer and the ongoing WTF efforts for fair judging and refereeing.
Another English photo book titled ``Taekwondo & The Olympics'' will also be made public during the ceremony.
The 208-page title, the first of its kind to be published by the WTF, contains a rich selection of photos and information related to the Olympic sport of taekwondo. It very clearly describes its history and philosophy, as well as its educational value.
``The books will be of help to better understand the Olympic sport of taekwondo," said the WTF president.
The publication comes just two weeks after the ASOIF General Assembly's decision in Denver, in the United States, to propose that the 26 sports, including taekwondo, on the 2012 London Olympic program, be voted on in a bloc for the 2016 Olympic Games.
After the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the WTF decided to publish a picture book on the Olympic sport of taekwondo in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of its founding.
Taekwondo was a demonstration sport at the 1988 Seoul and the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Taekwondo then debuted as an official sport in Sydney and continued at the 2004 Athens and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Taekwondo is also on the official program of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
